“AN OASIS OF TRANQUILLITY ON THE AMSTEL”
UNIQUE, HIGH-END, AND SPACIOUS – THESE ARE THE THREE KEYWORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS EXCLUSIVE WATER VILLA OF 217 M2 (GFA 256 M2). LOCATED IN A SPLENDID SPOT ON THE AMSTEL, COMPRISING THREE FLOORS AND WITH LARGE WINDOWS AND SEVERAL TIERED OUTDOOR TERRACES THAT OFFER MAGNIFICENT VIEWS OF THE RIVER. THE USE OF NATURAL MATERIALS AND THE PLANT-COVERED WALL INSIDE HAVE CREATED A WONDERFULLY SERENE ATMOSPHERE. THE WATER VILLA WAS FULLY RENOVATED BASED ON THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF THE RENOWNED ARCHITECT AGENCY FRAMEWORK IN 2015, AND WAS FEATURED IN VARIOUS NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINES, AS WELL AS ON SEVERAL HOUSING PROGRAMMES.
This stylish and unique houseboat/water villa, named “De Verbeelding”, was built in 2003 and has a concrete shell. In 2015, the original houseboat was completely renovated and modernised to a very high standard by the Amsterdam architect agency Framework. The result of their perfection and passion for beauty and exclusivity is a truly unique water villa. Only premium-quality and sustainable materials were used and several high-tech features were added. The water villa now includes luxury design LED lighting, automated sun shading, a heat pump, and solar panels. It has beautiful concrete flooring with a brass strip combined with wooden flooring and multiple steel frameworks with glass-in-steel walls. The spacious mezzanine, natural materials, and the large indoor planted wall give the water villa a serene atmosphere. The realised structure divided over different levels has resulted in optimum comfort.
In short: detached and grand living in an oasis of tranquillity, right in the heart of the bustling city!
The secured and electrically operated access gate gives access to the private jetty, with two sheds, which brings you to the entrance. The villa’s structure includes secluded and integrated mooring for a boat Via the hall, with a Japanese toilet, glass-in-steel doors lead to the generously sized living area. This floor is divided into a spacious kitchen-diner on the one side and a living room on the other side. The living room has a fireplace and includes a home cinema system. Broad sliding doors in the living room open to the first terrace, which comes with a jacuzzi and is connected with the terrace on the top floor via a steel staircase.
The kitchen-diner is fitted with handle-free green cupboards and drawer units and a marble worktop, and includes an island and Gaggenau appliances. The kitchen island also offers additional seating and contact with the rest of the living area.
The broad mezzanine floor, between the kitchen-diner and the living, looks down to the sleeping quarters. The indoor planted wall with an automated irrigation system and the stunning and robust marble cupboard are perhaps the two most unique eye-catchers. Opposite the mezzanine, the stairwell leads to the basement and the upper floor.
The basement offers two bedrooms. The master bedroom features another glass-in-steel wall and views of the spacious hallway and the planted wall. This bedroom also includes broad fitted wardrobes and an en suite bathroom. The bathroom has a green washbasin unit with a marble top, integrated taps, and a broad mirror; a toilet; a walk-in shower; and is finished with floor and wall tiles in a honeycomb design. To the left of the hallway is the private sauna. The glass-in-steel door on the right brings you to the other side of the water villa, with the second bedroom accessed via the good-sized and open-plan bathroom. This bathroom is finished in the same style as the first, with a broad washbasin unit, a walk-in shower, and a free-standing oval bath.
The integrated reading area with steps going up to the bedroom is a playful detail. Back in the hallway, you will find a practical laundry closet with a worktop, a separate toilet, and a built-in closet with the central heating unit, the heat pump, and additional storage space.
Going up the staircase from the living area you find the third bedroom created in the top structure, which also comes with an en suite bathroom. This bathroom features a washbasin unit, a toilet, and a walk-in shower, and is finished in the same style as the other two bathrooms. Another unique detail in the villa is the walkable glass flooring on the water side of the villa, which lets in additional natural light. On both sides of this bedroom are secluded terraces, both with hardwood decking and screened off with bamboo. The terrace on the right also gives access to the terrace next to the living area.
